This week’s computer term “viral video” refers to video clip content which obtains extensive popularity through the Internet, usually through e-mail or IM messages, blogs and other media sharing websites. Also viral videos are generally humorous in nature and may range from televised comedy sketches, such as Star Wars Kid or Stephen Colbert White House Correspondents Dinner from Vodpod.
However, the rapid increase of cell phones with cameras is equal to that most video contents taken these days are taken by consumers with these devices. The availability of cheap video editing and publishing tools allows video taken on cell phones to be edited and provided virally both in the Internet through e-mail etc. and through phones. Nevertheless, the purpose of these videos provided by the consumers is often just non-commercial and for seen by their families or friends
